Corn Blasting
Corn blasting media is a light abrasive used with the Blaster Buddy! for the purpose of stripping hard to remove stains, sealers, and topcoats from your log home (or any wood structure ). The media itself is actually made from corn cobs that have been dried and ground to a specific size.
By using corn blasting media there is no water or other chemicals used that may cause the wood substrate to fuzz or swell. The corn blaster strips the entire surface back to it's original condition. The corn blaster is similiar to sand blasting but the corn media is biodegradable and will decompose into the soil. There is also no unwanted water or chemicals going to the inside of the home to contend with. This meens no wet drywall, insulation or interior water damage. The corn blaster uses compressed air with the element of corn cob to blast away paints, stains, sealers, topcoats, etc.
Labor cost's can be reduced by corn blasting because there are no chemicals to cleanup or dispose of. The coverage rate will vary depending on product to be removed, access and shape of area to be blasted. One 40 lb bag of media covers areas from 75 sg ft to 200 sg ft. Once the corn blasting process is complete the surface is ready to apply preservative, and your finish.
